Children photographers, living in solidarity with war refugees 2015,Izmir in Turkey
The Child Photographers project is an initiative launched in Izmir to facilitate the participation of child refugees in city life. Photographers Serkan Çolak, Sinan Kılıç, Murat Eşiyok, directors Mohammad Shokooh and Alp Şeker, and project coordinator Jean Pierre meet with refugee children once every two weeks, conducting drama and theater workshops and organizing photography workshops with the aim of helping children participate in city life.
The group members, who base the theoretical framework of the program on the perspective of children's rights, set the goal of making the children subjects of the city they live in. At the end of the project, the photographs taken by the child photographers will be exhibited on the walls of Izmir.
Organizations supporting the project include the French Cultural Center in Izmir, Konak Municipality, Mülteci–Der, Mahzen Photos, Hezarfen Film Gallery, Kırkayak Art Center, and Duvara Karşı Theater Group. Emanuelle Houles, Director of the French Cultural Center in Izmir, and Güzin Bozduman, Course Director, also provide pedagogical support.

The Aegean Sea is where different countries, languages, and cultures intersect. As Kavafis calls out from the opposite shore, new lives are being built on our shore.
As these new lives try to find their way in a new language and a new country, our Syrian and Turkish students tell us about each other's lives through photographs, all under the same sky...
